A masterpiece of Andrea Piccini at Nurburgring in Race 2 of the first appointment of International GT Open 2014: thanks to a thrilling comeback in the final minutes, the driver of Sansepolcro led the team AF Corse to the victory in the GTS class with its Ferrari 458 Italia GT3. After the change with his team mate Giorgio Roda, Piccini was protagonists of an incredible second hal of the race: from the eighth position, he begun to close the gap and then launch decisive attacks in the last 7 minutes of the race, running over 2″ faster than other drivers. Cesar Campanico, Dylan Derdaele and Alan Sicart had to raise the white flag against Andrea Piccini, who was able to do three fantastic overtakes conquering the lead just one minutes before the chequered flag.

I think this is to define a perfect weekend – comments Andrea Piccini – because leave the Nurburgring with a fifth and a first place in the rankings is fantastic. A special praise to Giorgio Roda, who is rookie but he didn’t any mistake during the rolling start and he had a great contribution to this result. As far as I’m concerned, it was a nice feeling to come back after several months behind the wheel, find the Ferrari and win with Ferrari. The car was ok and I started immediately to build this victory, knowing that if I pushed as hard as I would have been able to do. And so it went. I’m happy of course for myself but also for AF Corse that believed in me. A work of impeccable staff, which has produced a great result.
